About one-third of the food produced in the world gets wasted or lost every year. We owe it to Mother Earth to make better use of our groceries. Lindsey Granger and MyFridgeFood’s Nick Dopuch have three innovative new ways to keep your food fresh using technology.

1.  MyFridgeFood.com

This food website helps you make things that you never knew you wanted to make and unlike other fancy pants cooking sites, all the recipes on are user submitted. Why waste time and gas going food shopping when you already have plenty of it in your refrigerator?

2.  Smart Fridge

Both Samsung and LG make smart refrigerators that come equipped with touch screen displays that give recipes based on what's cooling on the shelves within. The built in camera will also help you avoid buying the same items twice. The price tag is hefty on these smart devices, ranging from $6,000 to $8,000. With all new technology the price is high now, but will probably drop over time.

3.  MealBoard App

Now you can plan out what you’re eating, import recipes and get a grocery list in just a few taps. The app is a one stop shop, even allowing you to keep track of items in your pantry by adding and removing them manually or simply scanning the item's barcode.
