July and August are the two months that school supplies are in demand. In September you can start finding some great clearance deals, so it’s a smart idea to pick up these items now.
February has Valentine's Day, May has Mother's Day, June as a ton of weddings, and October, November and December are driven by Christmas so that makes September one of the six months when jewelers will drop prices and make deals.
Put down some roots! Outdoor nurseries want to liquidate their inventory before the snow flies, and the bonus? Fall is a great time to plant trees, shrubs, bulbs and perennials. Temperatures are cooler, the ground's still warm, and the work you put in now will mean you have a great looking yard come spring… at a discounted price.

In each of these categories, you're waiting until after the prime buying season, so inventory isn't being replenished. The trade-off is that what you gain in price, you lose in selection.
